2010 Elections

MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT: 2010 Elections – Candidates
In accordance with the By-laws of our Association, a general election will be held in 2010 to fill the following positions on the Board: For a two-year term: President, Secretary, Treasury, and four Directors. For one-year term: Pro Secretary and two Directors.
The Board received the report of the Nominating Committee, which consisted of the following members: Héctor Luisi, Coordinator, Alvaro Juan Llosa Talavera, Renato L. Puch, Luz S. Sadak and Hugo Villarroel. After considering the Committee's report, the Board approved the list of candidates shown below, all of whom have accepted nominations to run for office.
Up until February 1, 2010 active members of the Association may nominate other candidates by submitting a letter to Marilia C. Mirza, Secretary of the Association, and signed by at least ten (10) active members. The letter must be accompanied by a written statement of the nominee's acceptance of his/her candidacy, their C.V., and a brief statement of the areas on which he/she would like to contribute to the Association.
Before February 10, the documents for the election will be sent toall active members. The deadline for receiving votes is Wednesday, April 14, 2010.

Members are reminded that elections will be held in April, 2010, for the following Board positions, which will become vacant: President for a two-year term, Secretary for a two-year term, Deputy Secretary for a one-year term, four Directors for two-year terms, and one Director for a one-year term. According to the statutes polling shall begin 60 days prior to the April election date.
2009 Election Results
Presided by George Plinio Montalvan and with the participation of Euro Alves, Lily Fuentes, Afredo García, María Adela García, Edilia Hughes, María del Carmen Milam, Maria I. Motz, and Jaime I. Rocha the Tellers Committee met on April 20 to count the votes.
Our office gave the members of the comité a list of active members in alphabetical order and a total of 631 envelopes received until April 17, 2009, the deadline set for receipt of the ballots.
The Tellers Committee acted in accordance with with Voting Rules and Regulations and reached the following result:

As shown in the table below, 610 of 631 valid votes were received envelopes, which equates to 51.2% of the membership of the Association, for which, according to the stipulations of Article 5 Statutes, the results reported here are valid.
